Trying to leave Sydney
It’s been an interesting couple of days trying to fly to San Diego to start my walk. I was super excited and all ready to go after having lunch in Wollongong with Dibs and Tom and then off to get my Covid test before my flight on Thursday.
When I arrived to check in for Air Canada I was informed that I needed a visa to transit through Vancouver to San Diego. I was completely unaware of this and I even backtracked over the information from Air Canada to try and see if I missed something but it wasn’t there. Anyway because I had lived in Canada for 10 years and previously held a visa for Canada this was a red flag and I was not given a visa until I submitted the documentation and paperwork which obviously couldn’t do in any kind of a time frame so I missed my flight and then in fact missed the flight that they booked me the following day because after speaking to somebody in Canada and spending the day online I realized I was not going to get the authorization to fly.
Anyway I put that behind me booked a flight with United through San Francisco and would still arrive with an afternoon in the morning to get everything done in San Diego before I start the walk. I am currently still waiting to get on the plane To San Diego after maintenance still ice so I probably won’t make my connection from San Francisco to San Diego and we’ll see where that puts us but still confident I will get on trial on Sunday morning to start my adventure weather all have been able to mail packages and have food who knows.
Who knew the adventure would begin before I even got on trail.
Hopefully your first few days were the most challenging! Best of luck. I'm looking forward to keeping track of your progress and seeing your adventures.
