Day 15 Big Bear Lake

Day 15 10 miles to big Bear Lake

We are up early and really motivated to get into town for resupply and a zero day. We got down to the road 10 miles before 8:30 AM. There was a big truck with the camper on the back in the parking lot when we started to hitch into town. There were five of us and we had no luck with the first few cars when the driver of the big truck came across and asked to see if we needed a ride. Amazing generosity! So we all piled in and drove down into town.

First order of business was big American style breakfast. We found a perfect cheap and cheerful diner and had an amazing breakfast and time to plan our campaign for a rest day. We managed to find rooms for the two nights despite it being Memorial Day weekend which is a very big holiday in the USA.

We headed into the big supermarket and did a full resupply for the next five days. As we had run low on food in the last section and we didn’t want that to happen again we overcompensated and all bought a lot more food this time. I’m sure we will be paying for it carrying the weight uphill for the first few days.

Then we walked 3 miles further into big Bear Lake and found our accommodation after meeting up with a few through hikers at the local memorial day beer fest.

Shower first before anything and into some relatively clean clothes. Within ventured out for dinner and found the most quirky Hawaiian themed restaurant with great food and some really cool owners.

After a stroll around town and frozen banana it was time for a sleep in a real bed.

Once again the time goes so quickly and so much happens within each day. The trail experience continues to amaze me.
